For a handfull of copper Empty
PostSubject: For a handfull of copper   For a handfull of copper I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 03, 2010 8:16 am

So yeah, i decided to make the first rpg on this forum..... after quite alot of thinking, for being me that is.... ive decided on the setting of fantasy western (a superhero setting was a close second.). A world of magic and industrialisation. Kinda like if you mix Wild wild west with Tombstone and/or any spagetti western out there (and dare i say? Sukiyaki Western django?).

I intend to run the game like that last one we did, everyone lends their hand in to develop the story and world. We use no stats or rolls and only write our own characters npcs actions and narrations, but we should take heed to what others post so arguments wont occur. The entire idea is to cooperate to design a grand and thrilling story.

The world is a fantasy one, every staple fantasy race you think you might think is in there is in there. Magic is powerfull and could possibly wipe the floor with the tech there is, but due to the recent civil war between magicians and industrialists magic is shunned upon and treated with suspicion, so few people study its use. Technology? yeah i mentioned wild wild west so there is plenty of steampunk, zepelins, railroads and other stuff you could think of. Much thanks to the industrialists winning the civil war (not by much mind you.). but not too extreme.
Other than those pointers... you all can have a go at developing the history and certain events as you choose fit the story.

I liked that last time some of the players acted as the bad guys while other where good guys trying to thwart them. perhaps we could conjure something simillar this time aswell.

Any thoughts?

Hells yes I am on board with this!

Do we have a character sheet to follow when making our characters or just kind of wing it with what we think we need to say?

You can just wing it, the entire game will be freeform like the last one when MK played a type of knight named Broadsword and I played a cheap V for vendetta and Assassins creed knockoff, and count was a demonhost genetleman merchant drug addict, I forgot the name of that game but i LOVED how we managed to pull it of, shame that it died at the very end right before the dramatic climax.

Character sheets will then most likley not be necessary, it would keep a sense of mystery of what we all play as and what motives they have if we keep it to ourselves at first..... Smile

If you walk two miles an hour it takes 50 hours, so a little over two days. Add in time to eat, drink, rest and it goes up to about three. And most people can manage more than 2 miles in an hour.

If it's any consolation he's probably the least likely to be lynched

Being a Arthurian (nice name btw MK!) deserter will most likley get him lynched like any other magic user.... well at least he might get a trial.. Smile

Errr, I'm not a magic user.

also, 2 miles an hour through a desert over rough terrain is pretty generous.....and 50 hours is 2 days non stop? so add in sleeping and drinking and eating and what not, you 4 to 5 days is more likely unless you have a horse which should cut the time in half?

my point is, if I get on my horse and ride to Silverstone, I should beat you to there. If you are taking 2 days, therefore my horse should take 1 day. 1 day to ride 100 miles through a desert sounds like a dead horse to me...

Also Zia, Arthurian pass was just one battle site if that helps you at all?

You aren't taking into account that she's a mage. Also, she only has to worry about keeping herself well and hydrated, which is an advantage considering a horse doesn't really do well in the desert. Should maybe invest in a camel? And just because she's estimating, doesn't mean that's the actual time it will take her, taking into consideration that anything can happen to delay her.

didnt know she was a mage.

and I was basing it on a normal person's walking time, though the whole, "You aren't taking into account that she's a mage" opens up a whole box of worms imo.

all in all, I was saying that 2 days seemed very very fast for someone to walk 100 miles was all.

Depends on the individual.

And yes, she is. Forgot I didn't tell you on Skype. The medallion blocks her magic though so long as she's wearing it.

ummmm, basically I'm going to wait for the train to leave and probably need to time skip an hour or so for me before anything is planned to happen, so I'll wait unless people just wanna time skip...

I can't really do much until YOU do something

So a time skip sounds fine and dandy to me

I second the time skip. I haven't even thought of what I'm gonna do with Ray next since I've been waiting to see what everyone else does.

right, so, 4 carriages on the train. The last one is empty, the second to last one is the baggage train while the first two carry passengers, room for 36 in each.

I'm in the 1st passenger carriage and there are 30 people all up on this carriage.

The two other brigands are at the engine room tying up the engineers.

sorry for the lateness of the reply.
